Number of Killed Victims of the Banten-Lampung Tsunami Occurrence 229 People

Kolom Media. The number of fatalities due to the tsunami in the Sunda Strait that hit Banten and Lampung continued to increase. Up to now there are 229 people who have been declared dead as a result of the tsunami.

"The total death toll of 229 people died," said BNPB's Head of Data, Information and Public Relations Center Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told AFP on Monday (12/24/2018).

The number is called Sutopo based on data collected up to 23.30 WIB Sunday (12/23). He said that currently the data is still being updated.

In addition to the death toll, Sutopo also said 408 people were missing, 720 people were injured and 4,411 people were displaced. In addition, the total material loss last night consisted of 528 heavily damaged housing units, 1 lost swept away housing unit, 82 lightly damaged housing units to 1 severely damaged dock unit.

"The public is encouraged to remain calm and not be provoked by misleading issues. The emergency response update will continue to be delivered," he said.

Sutopo said that currently heavy equipment, dump trucks, refugee tents and food staples are urgently needed on location. A number of roads also cannot be passed, such as the Serang-Pandeglang connecting road which was cut off due to the tsunami, Tanjung Lesung highway due to fallen trees, to Anyer road in front of Puri Retno two which still cannot be passed by public transportation.
