The Mount Krakatau Children's Eruption Activity Still Occurs

Pojok Pos. The eruption activity is still ongoing on Mount Anak Krakatau. This is reflected in the presence of eruption tremors with an amplitude of 20 mm recorded at Sertung Station.

This was stated by the Head of the Fuming Fire Mitigation Center at Volcanology and BMKG Geological Disaster Mitigation, Henry Irawan, Tuesday night, December 25, 2018.

"Visual Mount Krakatau is not observed because almost all day is covered in fog," he said.

Previously, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency confirmed the tsunami that occurred in the area around the Sunda Strait due to the eruption of the Mount Krakatau Son. As a result of the eruption it is suspected that the slope of the Mount Krakatau Son experienced a landslide which triggered a large tsunami wave.

On Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 13.51 West Indonesia Time, the Geological Agency announced an eruption of the Mount Krakatau Children with an alert level. Then BMKG also announced a warning of the potential for high waves in the Sunda Strait waters between December 21-25 2018.

Then on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 21.03 WIB, the Geological Agency announced the eruption of the Mount Krakatau Children.

"At 9:27 p.m., the data recorded on the BMKG showed that there was an increase in the water level of the coast," said the Head of BMKG Dwikorita in his statement on Sunday, December 23, 2018.
